After Hunter, I spent four years at MIT and earned my SB in mathematics and history. Following my freshman year I spent three months in India, the beginning of many years of solo traveling. In between MIT and Johns Hopkins I spent six months abroad traveling to the UK (England and Scotland including the Shetland Islands, and the Inner and Outer Hebrides), East Africa (Kenya and Tanzania), South Africa, and the former Yugoslavia.

Following graduate school, I stayed in Baltimore and became a stock broker at Bache & Co. (the fifth woman to become a stock broker in Baltimore) at a time when women in Virginia could not own securities or real estate in their own names.

In 1986, I moved to Miami and became a real estate agent, eventually becoming a real estate broker and opening up my own company. In 2002, I also became a broker in California and opened a second office in San Diego. For 18 years I was bicoastal. In addition to representing both buyers and sellers of residential and commercial properties, I also owned and managed apartment buildings. More recently, I have become a serial remodeler.

Single and childless, over a period of 40 years my companions consisted of a total of nine cats and three dogs. My last dog Upton is with me in the photo at the top of this page. He was with me 12 years and flew nearly one millions miles with me.

During my working life I made a point of tithing my time, devoting at least 10 percent of my working hours to volunteer endeavors. This included serving as an educational counselor for MIT applicants, MIT regional club officer, Guardian Ad Litem in Miami, Humane Society volunteer, SCORE counselor, and fund raiser for numerous organizations.

Since that first solo trip to India, I have visited seven continents. Just prior to COVID I drove from San Diego to Prudhoe Bay, a trip that took about five months. The highlight of which was driving the Dalton Highway, aka the Haul Road, in my yellow VW Beetle. I also bracketed by island visits by visiting the Falkland Islands (where I was temporarily stranded due to Covid).

And now for the final chapter, I am retired and I have returned to NYC and I live part time on 49th and First. I still have my home in Miami. Often I walk past the old Hunter and think about the wonderful and crazy times we had there.
