I live in Bethesda, MD with my husband Neil Davis. Neil is an industrial hygienist and is about to retire from OSHA.  We’ve been married for over 30 years and have two children.  Our son Ben, 28, will soon get his PhD from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. Our daughter Kate, 24, is the program coordinator for a study abroad program based in Prague.

When I first moved to Washington, DC in 1971 after graduating from the University of Rochester, it felt like a sleepy southern town (it was) and I missed NYC very much.   Overall, DC has been a good place to live and has gotten a lot more interesting and fun over the years.  I worked for the National Archives and later spent many years working for the Federal Trade Commission. While at the FTC, I decided to go to graduate school part-time to get my Masters in Social Work. Since getting my MSW in 1980, I’ve worked in many types of behavioral health settings: inpatient, outpatient community mental health and private practice. I’ve also worked on research projects on PTSD and addiction medicine.   In 1986 Neil got a job opportunity in Los Angeles and we moved there for three years.  I began working at a VA medical center training UCLA residents in family and couples therapy.  We loved our time in LA and took lots of great trips out West.
Since 2007 I’ve worked mainly with veterans and active duty military members and their families.  At a Vet Center in Maryland I did outpatient therapy with combat veterans from WW II to the present.   In 2011 I began working at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda in the Psychiatry Consultation Liaison Service. Initially, most of my work was with the wounded warriors and their families.  Now I mostly see military retirees and their family members.

Speaking of retirees, I plan to be one soon, maybe as early as September. My husband and I love to travel and we both want to have more time to do it while we still can.

These were the good things about being at Hunter: I made some lifelong friends; I escaped the Bronx (haha) and was able to do so many interesting things in Manhattan while growing up; and I got a fabulous education.  I’d love to keep in touch with people.
