Deedee Eisenberg passe away gracefully of breast cancer on June 7. 2010, in Madison, WI, surrounded by friends and family. Deedee was a dancer all her life; she trained at the Martha Graham School of Dance while at Hunter. She was also active with Students for Peace in Vietnam. Initially at the University of Chicago, Deedee graduated from Princeton in 1971, in the college's first co-ed class. She went on to receive her doctorate in environmenta; epidemiology from the University of Wisconsin in 1988, followed by postdoctoral work in Seattle. Already interested in Buddhism, in 1991 Deedee traveled to India and shifted gears. She moved to Califon, NJ, founding "New Moves Yoga", became a certified practitioner of the Feldenkrais Method, and led training classes oon meditation, providing help and inspiration to many. Deedee is survived by mnay friends amd family including her longtime Hunter friend, Jannie LIEVOW Brightman'67 - who cared for her during the last months of her life, her sister, Joni, and her mother, Justine. Deedee was a lover of Mother Earth and all her people; a dancer, teacher, scientist, independent thinker, community builder, peace activist, great cook, organic farmer, and joyful spirit.
