After studying math, science, and theology, I have spent most of my professional career in the not-for-profit sector, including teaching and financial administration, but mostly in the administration of immigration and refugee service programs.

Many of my volunteer hours have been spent in interfaith peace and justice movements, and advocacy for LGBTQ inclusion in religious organizations.

I have lived in three of the five boroughs of New York, in Cleveland, Los Angeles, and now Eugene, Oregon.

This year I celebrate 42 years as a consecrated Lutheran Deaconess, part of a national and international community. My wife and life partner of 25 years, Hilary, is also a member of this community.

In 1998, I was forced by multiple severe disabilities to retire from all professional employment. I continue to participate in my religious community and to find fulfillment in creative pastimes, such as jewelry making.
